Logging Magic Logo

I did some work on this logo for someone I met while networking. I had to do all the different sizes and versions for all the different scenarios he needed, print and digital. His company deals with simple web traffic logging and analytics tools. So it needed to convey a modern feel, technology, professionalism and movement. I had to work with parts of an existing logo, but we freshened it up and created all the logical sizes.

Ohio.com, 1998-’99

I got a call from an old friend of mine at the Beacon Journal. They were going to launch an Arts & Entertainment section called JustGo on their site. It was a company-wide (Knight-Ridder) website and each of the chain newspapers were going to be adding a JustGo component to their sites. He wanted to know if I was interested in coming back to Akron to launch it.

I went to interview and realized what a great opportunity it was, so I took it. I became the Just Go Product Manager, which meant that I would do all the coordinating and planning for the launch, which included designing everything from the logo to the site as well as all the branding and even some of the advertising. I handled marketing and worked out the strategy for the search engine we partnered with. We worked with Zip.com and I set up the categories and zip codes for our target area, using Microsoft Access. I also had weekly conference calls with all the other Just Go editors at other newspapers, where we shared and coordinated coverage. I designed a movie website that all the other editors linked to and after the launch, I set up the coding for the Beacon Journal stories to automatically populate the site’s database. Also after the launch, I designed and maintained the site until the automation worked.

The Penny Hoarder

I filled a full-time role designing digital and print products for the Create Team and coordinated (Managed Projects) in an Agile Environment with the IT Team. This allowed me to use both my design skills and my technical skills in a WordPress environment.

Gigi’s Shelter for Dogs

This was a contract to fix problems with the website that was started by another designer. I redid the design and fixed several issues. The contract was through Robert Half. They have redesigned the site recently.

Carlton National Website

This website was for a contracting company in Boston specializing in placing people for Medical Device and Software and Hardware Engineering positions.  I had to recreate the logo because the version they had was low-res and very poor quality. Then I redesigned the site for them with a responsive design. I also edited and wrote some of the content.

Reckless Tarragon Website

I designed this food blog site for a friend of mine who wanted to switch her blog from a Blogger site to WordPress. She wanted to have a site that was more professional and had more social media and sharing features built in. I designed her logo, bought her domain and set up her hosting account.

Lifelines Website

I won a bid to build a website for the University of Maryland School of Social Work. I helped organize the stories and reporters hired to do stories on Social Work for the site. The project was part of a special grant. I used JavaScript and PHP to setup the interactivity. As with most of my sites, I design it and set it up and then I release it to the client and no longer have anything to do with the site. I did purchase the domains for them and set up their hosting account. I organized the content with the help of the client.

Eastmoor Pool Website

I designed this site while working for SiteInsight. It was a WordPress site, so I customized the theme that the client choose and designed the logo, avatar and favicon for them. I used JavaScript and PHP to setup the interactivity. As with most of my sites, I design it and set it up and then I release it to the client and no longer have anything to do with the site. After I did a majority of the setup and organization, I handed off the site to SiteInsight to finish up.

J Drumm

I designed this business card for a friend. It was two-sided and I was able to use just blue and white, so it was cheaper as a two-color job. I also did his resume.

Howard Slutsky, CPA Website

I designed this site while working for SiteInsight. It was a WordPress site, so I customized the theme that the client choose and designed the logo, avatar and favicon for them. I used JavaScript and PHP to setup the interactivity. As with most of my sites, I design it and set it up and then I release it to the client and no longer have anything to do with the site. After I did a majority of the setup and organization for this site, I handed off the site to SiteInsight to finish up.

The Legacy of Eastgate Website

This is a site for a documentary movie on a neighborhood in Eastern Columbus. It was part of a series for the Columbus 200th anniversary and the main parts of the series ran on PBS locally. The site launched in 2013. This was one of my first sites. We used a WordPress theme and I customized everything to fit into the site and changed the code to make it work for our needs. I used JavaScript and PHP to setup the interactivity. As with most of my sites, I design it and set it up and then I release it to the client and no longer have anything to do with the site.

Big Bend Blues Bash Logo

I have been cleaning out files in order to unearth all the right versions of my old work and I found a logo I created for a Blues Bash from 2005. I took the artwork from an old poster of the event and pieced together a logo for a sign. All the work was done in Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop. I thought it would be a good example of what I can do.
